I think that one of the best non computer technologies is an over head projector. I believe this is a great one because of the simplicity and most schools have them and they are fairly affordable. They are great for those students who are visual learners because the teacher can write and demonstrate in front of the whole class what they need to be doing. Also the teacher is able to erase the writing on the overhead sheets and can reuse them rather than making more or purchasing more of them.

This was a technology I was considering writing about as well. It really is a wonderful tool for teachers. Even teachers who are 'afraid' of computers and the thought of using technology in their classroom, typically have this nifty technology and use it often. It really is user-friendly, you can use it for all sorts of lessons and ideas, and like you said, you can use it over and over. I can't imagine having a class without an overhead, especially in an elementary school.

I agree that an over head projector is a great non-computer based technology. It is very true that they are simple and affordable. It is also true that early childhood students are very visual learners. A teacher cannot just stand up infront of their class and talk over a lesson. Teachers must provide visuals for their students and an over head projector is a great way to do this.

I do agree that an overhead projector is vital to a classroom. They seem old but really, like you said, their simplicity cannot be beat. Usually the only time I have seen one fail was because its light bulb burnt out. There are so many things a teacher and students can do with an overhead projector. Not only can we write stuff on them and wipe that off but we can use manipulatives on top to show the whole class. Especially if those manipulatives are too small to see otherwise.
